VideoLocus gets $600,000 from Waterloo-area fund

WATERLOO,Ont. - VideoLocus Inc., a Waterloo, Ont.-based startup that specializes in video-compression technology has received $600,000 in seed funding from Tech Capital Partners Inc., a new $30-million venture capital fund dedicated to investing in Waterloo-area firms.

The company is the brainchild of four former Pixstream Inc. senior engineers who were laid off after Cisco Systems Inc., Pixstream's owner, decided to close the company down.
