Toronto, ON, September 26, 2008 – Green technology startup, ecobee, announced that it has just won its second major award this month: it was selected as one of the 2009 winners of the annual Canada’s Top 10™ Competition. The goal of the competition, sponsored by the Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI), is to promote the 10 most promising early stage and emerging technology, life science and cleantech companies in . This award gives them greater exposure to international investors and industry insiders in an effort to support their growth and success. The earlier award ecobee won is the Red Herring Top 50 Award, given to 50 “innovative and promising” technology companies.
Ecobee will join the other winners on October 7th in where they will hone their presentation skills, meet local and regional investors, and prepare themselves for the first leg of a series of investment forums in 2009. ecobee will also participate as a presenting company at the 12th Annual Ottawa Venture and Technology Summit on October 8th.

Winners are chosen by an independent expert panel of venture capitalists from throughout Canada and the U.S. Working in partnership with Canadian Consulates in , City, and , winning companies will participate in targeted investment forums in each city, providing them with an opportunity to meet with venture capital investors who have expressed an active interest in financing them. Since its inception in 1999, competition alumni have secured more than $522M in venture capital financing.
